New Fuel Technology: Blends
The most popular biodiesel blends range from B5 through B20. The number in each designation indicates the percentage of biodiesel fuel added to petroleum diesel or home heating oil. For example B20 contains 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel.
Lower B2 and B5 blends are used in transportation fuels and more commonly in home heating oil. The B5 blend is approved by most Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's).
